Roast Turkey
Ingredients:
- 1 whole turkey (10-12 lbs)
- 1/2 cup olive oil or melted butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 cloves garlic, smashed
- 1 onion, quartered
- Fresh herbs like thyme, rosemary, and sage
- 1 lemon, halved
- 2 cups chicken broth
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
- Rub the turkey with olive oil or melted butter, then season with salt, pepper, garlic, and fresh herbs.
- Stuff the turkey with aromatics such as onion, garlic, and lemon.
- Tie the legs with kitchen twine and tuck the wings underneath.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan, breast-side up, and pour the chicken broth around the base.
- Cover loosely with foil and roast for 15 minutes per pound, basting occasionally with its own juices.
- Remove from the oven, cover with foil, and let rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
